Talking about traffic rules, we were always taught that one should make way for ambulances, fire trucks and police vehicles; no matter how urgently you need to get somewhere. However, there is no denying the fact that when it came to VVIP convoys, rules were often relaxed and they were given preference over everyone else.
Despite knowing that ambulances should always be given preference over any VIP’s car, traffic cops often bowed in front of hierarchy over humanity. However, Bengaluru Police Sub Inspector Nijalingappa, has set a great example and we are glad that someone finally took a stand. Nijalingappa stopped President Pranab Mukherjee’s convoy to make way for an ambulance and in the process won the hearts of people all over the country.
The president was in Bengaluru to inaugurate Metro’s Green Line. Nijalingappa was was deployed at Bengaluru’s Trinity Circle on Saturday, when the President Pranab Mukherjee’s convoy was heading towards Raj Bhavan.
At the same time, an ambulance, which was en route to a private hospital near HAL, was seen by Nijalingappa and his colleagues, who ensured the vehicle’s travel through, by stopping the convoy.
